An easy ¾ walk around the village with one set of
steps down Prospect Place. The steps can be avoided by walking
on down Peases Lane.
Most of the ¾ mile walk is along the river, with
one short flight of steps at the bridge. Otherwise, easy
walking.
2½ miles (with an optional diversion to Lesbury Church).
There may be some muddy stretches along the riverbank and
a climb up to the road. Boots are recommended.
About 2 miles with a steep grassy climb up to the bronze
age encampment and then hilltop paths with stunning views
from the historic battery. Stout shoes recommended.
Just over 2 miles along the beach and return along the top,
with grassy paths and a steep descent.
A short walk of a little over 1 mile, along riverside paths,
with a short flight of steps and back along the beach.
A longer walk, 5 miles there and 5 miles back with great
views of Alnmouth from the far side of the river and the
historical interest of Church Hill.
Just under 6 miles up river and into the countryside. Lots
of interest on the way. Could be muddy, so stout footwear
recommended.
4 miles to Warkworth, along good paths or the lovely stretch
of beach if preferred, with marvellous sea views, to the
picturesque village of Warkworth. There is an hourly bus
service for the return journey or a healthy walk back.
Just under 4 miles along the banks of the river Aln and
field paths which can be muddy at times. Walking boots recommended.
This is a beautiful country walk almost entirely away from
any road, but finishes right in the centre of Alnwick town.
There is a return bus every hour, if desired.
3 mile walk to Boulmer, or beyond, by beach and rocks, returning
along the dunes and the tops, with some climbing. Or back
along the shore if preferred. A great coastal walk.
